Happy Mother's Day

Today we have been planting flowers that were given to me by my husbands aunt and also elderberry  bushes I picked up from Knock Knock Farm here in Maine. (Was my mother's day gift from the boys.)

Our garden will be tilled again this week and I need to put plastic over the metal frame.
I saw on Craigslist a free shelterlogic shed. It was missing one leg and that's it. I'm not saving the top part as it is ripped and wouldn't make a good greenhouse. (Warmth wise it would just no sunlight)
I forgot to snap a photo of our window boxes filled with flowers.
We are heading out to the other house in Orono to finish fixing the windows. Then I'm not sure what else we will be doing.
I made sure to text and call my mom to wish her a Happy Mother's Day.
My oldest son called me this morning which was nice.
I also need to wish my future daughter In law a Happy 23rd birthday today!!

Homestead Happenings

5 of Tiny Tina's chicks hatched but we lost all but 1 due to them trying to follow their mom to get water and fell.

We added 4 Easter Eggers to the farm so we now have 10 chicks inside

This weekend we finally started putting up fencing for the animals. We just need to finish putting cedar slabs around it.

We need to also tack the fencing to the inside of the cedar boards and they will be able to come outside and enjoy the fencing. We were able to get the posts and fencing from our other house as well but we aren't completely sure what we will be doing with that.

We lost the cute little bantam. She got out of the barn.

I bought some Rhubarb plants from a woman in Old Town last week. She blessed me with Comfrey, strawberries, walking onions and several other plants. Today I got 20 raspberry plants and 2 bleeding heart plants.  We planted 7 Rhubarb plants today. Depending on the weather tomorrow we will plant all 20 Raspberries and 2 blackberries as well as my 2 blueberry bushes.

Oakley had fun with us outside. The blackflies are so thick where part of our backyard is still wet.

I have decided to have my garden down by the barn where I can accessu water easily. We are hoping to start tilling that Sunday.

Friday my son that is in college will be home for the summer. He will be umpiring a lot of baseball for his summer job.

Later this week. Dennis aunt is thinning out her flower beds and giving me all of her overflow. I still need to finish digging up the flowers that are coming up on the front lawn. I want to move them towards the front of the lawn where we have boulders.

Time for me to water my seedlings. Have a great evening!!

Tiny Tina

Today while Tiny Tina was down grabbing a drink we were able to snap a pic of the eggs shes trying to hatch. I dont know how many of these will hatch but I'm looking forward to it

The bantams inside  are doing well. This little one slept in an awkward position.

Tomorrow we are picking up some free greenhouse!! I'm looking forward to adding it to the homestead. It's 7X8.

I am enjoying adding a little bit at a time!!

Farm Additions

Yesterday we picked up 6 bantam chickens from Tractor Supply. I was able to get different colored bantams this year.

They are just fluffy cuteness.

We have them in the dining room on the hutch. The parakeets try and talk to them.

While at Tractor Supply yesterday I was able to pick up 20 egg cartons. This morning I made farm labels for them.

I'm thankful for avery.com for the ability to design your own printable labels.

My husband's nephew and wife are expecting their 1st baby next month so I made them a few gifts. I was able tonjse my cricut for the onesies.

Of course I had to do a little farm theme.

Today I need to finish a sign I'm making for another farm. I am also going to make a barn quilt for the garage.  Then I'm going to make a sign for our farm.

I've also been asked to make a couple onesies for a friend of mine who wants to gift them.

We had a little get away Friday and Saturday.  I feel a little more refreshed. I need to focus on my garden more this week.  I messaged someone on fb that is giving away a free greenhouse. Hoping to hear back soon about that!

Have a great day.

Seedlings

Here is a photo of my seedlings so far.

I'm looking forward to the flowers that are started as well to plant in our window boxes.

Today we will be going to the old house and beginning to move the rest of our stuff here. I need to grab my gramps tire planter and wagon.
It will give me more practice driving the pickup with a trailer🙈🙈 practice makes perfect, right??

We will finally be planting our blueberry and blackberry bushes this evening. We plan on being outside and enjoying the warm weather. Donut will be assisting us as he loves running around. :)

Our fruit trees are doing really well so far. Im thankful the goats won't be able to get at them this year as Oreo loves rubbing his head against them.

It's foggy here this morning as I'm enjoying a cup of warm apple cider. When it is a little bit warmer I will be sitting in my rocker on the porch.

Tomorrow I will plant all my peppers and tomatoes. I'm hoping those all do well. I am really impressed with this brand of seeds. I would recommend them! Especially for someone just starting out.

Miss Bianca is doing ok without meeko. I think she tends to sleep more. I was going to have her go into my craft room with me but Dylan's cat was hiding in there.

We broke Minnie of being on the table so now she sits in her chair like she's waiting for breakfast.

Everyone have a great morning. Time for me to get moving!

Losing Lambi and essential oils

For those not following me on Facebook we lost Lambi on March 30th.  He didn't recover from his body temp dropping a second time and didn't drink enough milk to have enough nutrients in his system even though I used a medicine dropper to feed him. It was absolutely heart breaking.

Hamberguesas is doing excellent. She is a month old today!! Her moo is absolutely adorable.

I have started making some homemade household cleaners with essential oils.  My favorite to make is thieves cleaner. I use that for my bathrooms and sometimes kitchen counters.  I made some homemade floor cleaner with lemon, lavender and peppermint essential oils, water and hydrogen peroxide. We will be testing that put today to see how well it works.
I also use essential oils when someone has a belly ache or a headache.
I bought some citronella essential oil take citronella candles for outside.  Most of the time I look up essential oil blends for the diffusers from pinterest and do seasonal scents. Thr boys enjoy their diffusers in their bedrooms.
Here is my collection of essential oils:

Tonight we will be putting soil in all of our window boxes and whiskey barrels. I cant wait to be able to plant flowers in all of them. This weekend I will plant peppers and tomatoes to start from seed. I also need to replant my onions and I don't think they got enough light and died off.

I received this wooden sign in thr mail yesterday and will be putting it in my craft room.

Flipflops and Margaritas. My favorite combination.

We are still waiting for the 6x6 posts we ordered for the barn. We have our cedar posts for fencing. Im thinking we will end up order another roll of field fencing for the animals. Once they get outside we will be scrubbing out the garage and placing fresh shavings and straw in there.

We have a massive amount of eggs im hoping to sell some and will be trying my hand at pickled eggs

Have a great day today!
