House Update in Photos

We have finished the flooring in our house! It looks amazing.

Excuse the piles of sorted laundry!! We have a wall of shiplap we will stain a gray color.
I added a hanging scale to the kitchen.
Today I started making a coffee bar on top of the buffet. I'm hoping to finish that tomorrow.

Newest Project

All of you know how much I love pinterest. Here is hubby's newest project.....pinterest inspired. Master Bedroom

U see in these pics the faux barn board walls and faux hardwood flooring. We bough several sheets of plywood from Lowe's and had them cut them to the sizes that we need. I wanted the boards to be gray like the lockers hubby made but the stain we used do not come in a Gallon bucket. I ended up choosing another gray shade with hints of blue.  The floors we are staining Antique Maple.
We will be taking the old farm doors below cutting them to turn them into barn door closet doors. The glass door if it can't fit where my pantry is will be hung sideways on our wall above the bed with a quote hand written on the glass.

I'm going to keep the doorknobs on them.
Here is our new to us entryway light fixture we got at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
I will post more pics as hubby makes more progress. :)

I am getting very excited to see our entryway coming together and having a nice organized mud room. Next year we will start replacing windows!!

DIY project finished!!

I know I have said this before, but I LOVE pinterest. I love searching what other people have done and put my own personal spin on it. Hubby has been working all day long making rustic lockers for our entryway.
Here are the in process pics and then finished result!!

They way I took the picture you can only see 3 lockers but there is a 4th one attached as well.
The only thing left to get for the 5th bedroom is 1 more bag of insulation, sheet rock and the 2 doors.  It will be nice looking back seeing in progress pictures and seeing a finished product!!

Bulbs are Planted

I planted Shirley tulips, purple tulips, red tulips, daffodils and crocus bulbs today. In the next couple of weeks I will be planting a piece of my great grandmother's Peony that my mom has. The only other thing I want to plant are some iris. I will have flowers planted in memory of my late grandmothers.  When I am able to get some of the peony I will go to my grandmothers house and get some of her forsythia. It will probably take a couple of years to grow enough to see them turn yellow in the spring buy I am very excited to have some plants that belong to my family.
In the spring my grandmother will be giving me some purple and white lilacs. The lilacs are from a bush at the farmhouse my mom grew up in and also we lived in for a couple of years growing up.
I weeded the annual flower bed in front of the house as well as the side one.
Hubby put a bedroom door up for the youngest 2 boys.
Husband has been busy framing in our 5th bedroom and putting the flooring in.
Here is looking from inside the room out. Our ladder to the attic will be within the new bedroom. Hubby is wiring new outlets.
I will post some more pics as the bedroom is done more.

A little Photo update

We added a new light to the entryway.  Which I didn't think at first would like....but now that hubby has installed it I do love how the light is casting.
Doesn't it give the entryway a cozy glow?
Hubby has been busy after work building our 5th bedroom. Here is hubby teaching one of the boys how to measure and cut.
Floor is being built. Not bad for once being the garage!!
I love seeing progress being made:)
I will post more pics as the room is being worked on

Poor chickens

I'm saddened to say our little flock of chickens are slowly dwindling down. We now have 3 girls left. The "runt" of the girls got trampled.
The other 3 girls seem to be doing good. I just wish they would start laying eggs!! They are not impressed being shut in their coop at night but the last 2 nights we have had a frost and I definitely do not want them getting too cold.
We are going to move their coop closer to the house for winter so I do not have as far to walk to feed them.
I believe next year we are going to make a barn out of pallets. We were going to make a chicken coop ouy of them but could not find any pallets. Of course now that we bought a little coop we have found quite a few pallets.
This weekend we begin building the 5th bedroom. I will be happy when that is finished and we are able to paint the entryway. Hopefully in the spring we will finish putting siding where the addition is.
I certainly do lover our home. Eventually we will out a covered porch on the back side of the house.  We want steps down to a patio where we would like an outdoor kitchen covered by a pergola.
Time for me to bring our son and daughter to school. Have a great day!!

Family treasures

Yesterday all 7 kids and I went to my grandfather's birthday party. He turned 83.
It was nice seeing family and visiting with everyone. I don't know how many of you follow the blog: Blessings at Felicity Farm but we were able to see her family.  The newest addition to their family is doing fantastic.
Today my parents dropped off a few more treasures for me that were my grandparents.
First is this wicker chair that will end up on our porch when we add on.
The second is this painting my dad's Aunt painted.
My home is filled to the brim with family treasures. I love having family memorabilia.
I am thinking of putting up our fall decorations today. I know it's a little early but I love my home seasonally decorated. When I go out to run errands later I need to find a flag pole as my grandmother loved flags to put out so now I'm able to.
Enjoy your day!

Master bath Flooring

Hubby began to install the flooring in the master bathroom tonight. He's hoping to finish it tomorrow and then put the new flooring in the kids bathroom. It's so exciting fixing up our own home!!! It's a little bit at a time but I do love it!
Close up of old and new bathroom flooring pic 1. Pic 2 whole view this far.

Love that this flooring actually makes our rockin' 60's peach toilet and sink look like they belong.

Also today we had 5 windows that needed blinds out in them. So while hubby was at an appointment I decided I would out the mini blinds up. 3 out of the 5 blinds are up. I have learned that running a drill is NOT my forte'. A preschooler could do it better than me but I did it!! Tomorrow morning I will out the other blinds up. (if you hear loud voices it's ok it's
just me freaking out at the drill lol) It makes me appreciate my Mr. Fix-it hubby even more.

We bought our faucet for our "new" (antiqur) farm sink. Hubby is waiting for his sister to clear out a spot in her barn so we can go pick it up.

I really love my "faux farmhouse " ranch:)

Update

We may have found a place!!!! Actually a place found my hubby! It's not what I dreamed to have that we have been house searching for but Hubby and I have dreams of turning it into ours. We should know by the end of this month if we will have this house or not.
I can tell you it's a 3 br 2 ba home that we will turn into a 5 BR 3 BA home. I have decided if this is our forever home, I will be doing farmhouse decorating to give my home that farmhouse feel. It sits on 2.6 acres so I know we can have some chickens and goats as well as a garden.
I plan on putting faux tin as a back splash in the kitchen and putting in a farmers sink. I also want brushed oil bronze fixtures. Lord Willing our dream of owning our own home will become a reality soon!!
