Master bath Flooring

Hubby began to install the flooring in the master bathroom tonight. He's hoping to finish it tomorrow and then put the new flooring in the kids bathroom. It's so exciting fixing up our own home!!! It's a little bit at a time but I do love it!
Close up of old and new bathroom flooring pic 1. Pic 2 whole view this far.

Love that this flooring actually makes our rockin' 60's peach toilet and sink look like they belong.

Also today we had 5 windows that needed blinds out in them. So while hubby was at an appointment I decided I would out the mini blinds up. 3 out of the 5 blinds are up. I have learned that running a drill is NOT my forte'. A preschooler could do it better than me but I did it!! Tomorrow morning I will out the other blinds up. (if you hear loud voices it's ok it's
just me freaking out at the drill lol) It makes me appreciate my Mr. Fix-it hubby even more.

We bought our faucet for our "new" (antiqur) farm sink. Hubby is waiting for his sister to clear out a spot in her barn so we can go pick it up.

I really love my "faux farmhouse " ranch:)

New Member of the Family

So my children's dream came true today. Hubby decided it was time to get them a Black Lab.
Meet Oakley!!!!

Our Daschund is NOT very happy at all. He has been the big cheese for 10 years and his turf is being invaded. He keeps looking at Oakley and barking at him. Hopefully he adjusts well to Oakley like he did Sylvester.

Sunday Ramblings

Today has been the most relaxing day I have had in awhile. A friend came over with her husband and 5 year old son.  She helped my oldest son with homework then we all rode to bring him to his gf's house. Hubby refereed most of the day.
My brother popped in for a quick visit. He looked the happiest he has looked in awhile.
Right now the hubby is watching Animal Planet and i'm curled up reading a book on my Kindle app.
I'm reading "Diary of a Disappointed Wife". I'm about 3/4 of the way through it. There are a couple of funny parts of it that remind me of hubby and I. I love to read. It's my favorite past time. I need to find some good mini farming books to read. I want to read what makes to most sense to do on our 1.8 acres.
What books are you reading right now and what farming /homesteading books do you recommend?

New Year 2015

Hello friends and family. We had snow today after our very green Christmas here in Maine.
Here are my youngest 2 boys playing outside today.
I signed up for backyard chickens as I am doing some research now on a coop and what types of chickens to get. Due to our town ordinance we are only allowed 6 hens and they have to be in an enclosed coop. Which after seeing pics that is what I wanted to have anyway.
I need to call and find out what I can have for barnyard "pets" as they are deemed here. I know with my zone we are in some of the restrictions do not apply but better safe than sorry!!
Hubby and I put up some old window picture frames yesterday. I will post pics soon of them!! Our home is getting cozier!
Our next project will be putting in our sink and faucet in the kitchen. Not sure when we are doing that but it should be in the next couple of months.
Thoughts of our garden are in the plans too!!
New Year, new hobbies, dreams slow becoming a reality!!

Christmas Fast Approaching

Not much has changed the last few months at our little homestead. Our electrician has put up the new box and wiring for our meter and we are waiting for code to come inspect it so our electric company can hook up the new one.
We did find out today that our first set of adoption paperwork has been sent it so hopefully by the end of March/Beginning of April this process will be over with!!:)
2 weekends ago my parents and one of my brothers and his family came to our house for a Christmas get together. It was nice cooking a big meal for them. This Past Saturday we went to my grandparents house for their annual party. So my mom and her 5 siblings and most of their children were there along with their children. My mom counted 55 of us there!!! It was a great time seeing everyone!!
Today I plan on wrapping gifts for my kiddos and making sure amounts of gifts are even. Have a great Christmas everyone and I will post our Christmas picture when I get one taken.
