Sunday rest day and new treasure

I am sitting at my kitchen table waiting for bread to rise.  (This after needed a quick trip to the grocery store because we ran out of flour).
We had this bird chirping to us all morning even though it'S raining steadily.
Can u spot him??
I was shocked to see we had a cardinal at our feeder. This is the first time I have seen a bird at it. He knocked the  seeds on the ground then ate them.

Hubby unearthed this fabulous treasure he placed by my garden for me. Dad told us yesterday originally it was pulled behind a horse then converted to tow behind a small tractor.

Enjoy your Sunday. I need to get back to baking. The daughter wants to make some peanut butter cookies in awhile.

Loving summer

My garden has grown so much in the past week!! Some of my plants I didn't think we're going to do well are surprising me. We have enjoyed a few more radishes since my last post. They are so delicious.
My chives have finally poked through the ground. The smell good already.  I'm hoping more come through now that I have weeded last weekend.
This week I have been baking. Last night we made a one pot pasta dish I saw on pinterest. Such a simple recipe but we had no left overs. :) Also to go with it I made 2 loaves of cinnamon bread. For dessert we had mint chocolate chip cookies.
This morning I am making homemade Cheese Danish. I have never made it before but am hopeful it will come out nicely.
We have 2 hummingbirds at the feeder now. The children and I have enjoyed sitting at the table watching them.
This weekend I will have to take the feeder down and refill it. We have not seen many birds at the bird feeders. We do a have gray squirrel that is enjoying eating out of one of them.
Time to hang the laundry out. I will post pics of the garden now as well as our hummingbirds in my next post.

Summer is finally here

Pics of the garden coming in. We also had 11 radishes today that were delicious!:)
I never realized how peaceful weeding a garden is. It's also nice seeing it look rather tidy after.
The kiddos are all on vacation now. I'm praying we have a good balance of nice weather to rainy weather. It is nice watching them all play together outside.

Gardening

So I'm very excited to share with you that our garden is growing nicely!!! The only things not up are our chives, green onions and strawberries. I'm very happy everything else has poked through. :) I think our bean plants have grown the tallest in a couple of days. I have thinned out everything but the radishes which I'm hoping to do later this afternoon.
The flower gardens we planted are not doing the best. I have one that is finally sprouting green hut the other one seems to be growing more weeds than anything. I'm thinking of making the one that is not doing so well into an herb garden next year.
It has been a rather rainy week here in Maine but i'm thankful for it as I have not had to water our garden.
I put up a hummingbird feeder today. I've never had one before but hope we can watch some very soon!!

My boys made me bird feeders a few years ago an we will be putting those up as soon as hubby gets home from work tonight. I really enjoy watching all the birds. Our neighbor has quite a few blue jays that come to their feeder. I will post pics as soon as we get those up.
Enjoy your day!! :)
